Snack Time!

Hannah enjoys having me around. You see, she has someone who will "taste" her cooking. I don't mind it. It's entertainment. But, I must say, plastic isn't on the top of my "Tastes Good" list. Hannah does tend to gag me a bit with the spoon. She doesn't know how far is too far yet. Thankfully Mommy is close by to monitor. Hopefully she'll whip up something soon that doesn't include chips. It seems chips are always on the menu. But then again, she is around Mommy a lot and chips do seem to be one of Mommy's favorite foods.

Checkin' the Eyes

Finally, Hannah wanted to check my eyes. And there she goes, showing off again while keeping her eyes closed. Don't you think you need to SEE if I can see Hannah? This is not the time to be a show boat. What if I had something in my eyes? You wouldn't have seen it. Wow. You've got a long ways to go before you can become a real, genuine doctor. Glad I don't just see you.

Getting Some Shots...

In addition to the stethescope, Hannah also got this shot maker. Boy, I wasn't so sure about this one. I mean, come on, just look at the pictures. . .she's not the most careful doctor...or should I say nurse since they're the ones to always give the shots. First off, she was giving me shots in my belly. Now I know I'm a novice when it comes to getting shots, but really, in your stomach? I've never had a shot in my stomach. Then, she tries to show off and do it with her eyes closed. What's that all about? This is my life here. Even the most professional doctors don't close their eyes to give shots. They don't need to impress anyone. And then, to top it off, she has it right by my mouth. A shot in the mouth? Boy Hannah, you've got a lot to learn. When I'm old enough to get out of the way, I'll be sure to do that when I see you coming at me with a needle for shots!

Checkin' My Heart

Hannah, do you know what you're doing?

So, Hannah got this doctor's kit for her birthday from her good pal Mac. Mommy had the bright idea to have Hannah use it on, who else but me! She had high hopes this might ease her anxiety over the doctor's visit but unfortunately it didn't turn out that way as you saw in a previous post. So she pulled out the stethescope and checked to make sure all was working. Then she proceeded to check my thumping heart. This was serious business so Hannah had no time to smile at the camera. And I, well, I didn't either. I was just praying that stethescope wouldn't end up my nose or in my mouth. Lucky for me, it didn't...this time at least. Thanks Mac, for making Hannah a doctor and me...the unfortunate patient.

While You Were Sleeping...

Please excuse the cankles...it's gotta be the shoes...gotta be the shoes...

While you were sleeping Gant, Mommy and I went outside (don't worry we take the monitor with us). Betcha didn't know that did you? What do we do, you ask? Well, here's what we do. I run around in circles on the driveway and repeat, "turn 'round, turn 'round," over and over while Mommy sings the turn around song she made up all by herself and just for me. I think she could go platinum with it. Then, we play with my green ball. We go to the side yard (because if we stay in the driveway it will go in the street and "I not go in schteet."), and roll it up and down the hill. Then I tell Mommy to "chase" me. I run and Mommy chases me. Then I chase Mommy. Oh, and when I get tired of that we play "peekaboo." I found a great bush that I hide behind and Mommy hides on the other side. Then I come find her and she jumps out at me. So Grant, while you are sleeping, that's what we do sometimes. Don't worry, there will come a time when you can do it too. I'll be a good big sister and show you the ropes.

Taking a Break

Like after any vigorous play session, a boy needs a break. Some like a cold glass of juice. Others like some calming music. But me, I like my thumb and just a little quiet time on my back. That refuels me in a way nothing else can. Ahhh...

Still Smilin'

These days I find life to be pleasureable. I enjoy nice warm baths where I can splash around. I enjoy the tune and sight of my mobile as I prepare to snooze. I enjoy a nice warm bottle upon awaking from my naps. I enjoy my rattles and my new ability to put them in my mouth. Oh and I enjoy my feet...who knew they would be so tasty? All in all, I have a lot to smile about. So, smile I do. It's rare not to catch me smiling. And might I add that I am very proud of my strong neck...a must have for every strapping boy. You see, Hannah would have never been able to do this at my age. But I can because I'm a boy. . .a boy who sleeps on his tummy...I suppose that could have a lot to do with it too.

The Artist

Grandmama and Grandaddy got me this easel for my birthday. Just a few weeks ago I had no idea what an easel was. But I'm sure glad I know now because it's a lot of fun. Mommy and I have been working on paintings now. These pics are from my first experience. I really feel as though I can express myself through painting. What this painting is saying here is that I'm an out of the box kind of girl. I enjoy new opportunities and new people. I am vibrant. And I enjoy bike riding. Did you see all of that in my artwork? If not, don't worry, it takes a little bit of time to truly understand art and what it means. I will have to say though that I don't really enjoy getting paint on my hands. In one picture I was trying to get Mommy to get the paint off of my hands by repeating "durty." Now I realize a true artist doesn't clean up until AFTER she's done with her work. And even still, it's not uncommon to find paint somewhere on you hours after your masterpiece is done. Even Mommy found green paint on her leg when it was time to go to bed. Thanks Grandmama and Grandaddy for this great gift!

Double Trouble

It seems Hannah is a little concerned about my weight. She says she's been there. So, she wants to help pork me up. Then, she says, I can resume my position as VP of the Chub Club. She took it upon herself to feed me chips and some tea. However, she wasn't quite paying attention when she gave me my tea. Lucky for me, it was all pretend. Otherwise, I would have had to change my clothes AGAIN. I go through a lot of clothes thanks to my spit up, drool, and occassional knock out poops. I don't need spilled tea to be added to my list of reasons of why I wear so many different outfits in a day. Believe me guys, I'm NOT that concerned about my looks, it's just that I'm a messy fellow. I don't think Hannah's diet will work though. I don't have teeth for one and two, even if I did have teeth, I can't and shouldn't eat plastic. But while her efforts failed I still must champion her on her big heart. She loves me and for that I'm thankful.

On a different note, today was both my and Hannah's checkups. Oh boy. I'll give you a quick play by play.

*We breeze in right on time. Hannah is happy. Grant is happy.
*We go to our room where two nice nurses were waiting for us.
*Hannah plays with the toys while Mommy strips me naked...well with my diaper still on of course...I can't show my goods.
*They take me away to weigh me.
*Mommy strips Hannah down to her diaper as well. Hannah runs around saying "I nay-nay I nay-nay." She means she's naked.
*They bring me back. I weigh 13 pounds 9 ounces. I'm in the 14%. They're pleased with that. Phew.
*They measure me. Meanwhile Hannah is playing with the toys while excited about being nay-nay. This could be a problem several years down the road. I measure in at 26 inches.
*Hannah is whisked away to be weighed.
*She returns (with a sticker in hand), still happy and weighing in at a whopping 22 pounds. Folks, this is the BIG NEWS. Hannah has now reached the 2nd percentile for her weight. She has moved from the 0% to the 2%. She is a PORKER.
*Mommy holds me while Hannah gets measured. She is 34 1/2 inches long. And get this...she is in the 65% for height. Hannah has risen above the average! Wow. I'm so proud.
*We're both still happy.
*Mommy holds me while Hannah plays and we wait for the doctor.
*The doc comes in. Hannah says hi.
*The doc checks me out. I let out a few whimpers but I must brag...I really was a good boy.
*Next, it's Hannah's turn. This folks, is the turning point.
*Hannah SCREAMS when the doctor tries to look at her.
*Mommy is holding me, spit up and drool drenching her shirt, squatting on the ground trying to pry the hands grasped tightly around her back off of her so Hannah can get close enough for the doctor to check her.
*Mommy and Hannah put up a good fight that lasts for a few minutes until Mommy finally wins.
*The doctor listens to her heart while Hannah screams and screams and screams.
*She calms down for a few minutes while he finishes checking her.
*Then, comes the band-aide. Notice, I'm not making a big deal about the finger prick that proceeded the band-aide. No, she handled that rather well. It's the band-aide that sent her over the edge. She screamed for it to come off. She yanked at it. She cried. She clung to Mommy in the hopes that Mommy would rescue her. She yelled out, "No, I don't like it. Take it off!" However, we know the disaster that would have ensued if we gave in to her antics. Blood would have gushed everywhere. We could not take that risk.
*While Hannah continued to scream over her band-aide I was suddenly suprised by three awful pricks to my leg. I screamed and screamed.
So yes, we had to have been the loudest room in that office between my shrills and Hannah's screaming over the band-aide.
*Mommy wasted no time to console. She quickly dressed me as I desperately tried to put my thumb in my mouth.
*I was then placed in my carseat...a safe haven at the time...oh the irony in that.
*Mommy threw Hannah's clothes on while she continued to complain about the band-aid.
*But then, finally, a hush fell over the scene. I was quiet. Hannah seemed to forget all of a sudden about her band-aid.
We all took a deep breath. And walked out the door.

Fun at the Park

Well, these pictures are from a couple of weeks back...we're a little behind...we know. But we couldn't leave them out. Ellie, Grant, and I went with our mommies to the park to enjoy some afternoon fun. Now that it's not so hot anymore it's back to the playground for fun in the sun! Grant enjoyed what little he could. Ellie tried to entertain him by giving him his rattles. Ellie really loves baby Grant. We think they'll get married one day. But that's alright by me because that would make Ellie my sister in law (Mommy has caught me up on all this family lingo)! Ellie also had two wuffle balls. I loved them. You can see one of them with me on the swing and then one in my hand for our best friends shot. I also liked playing with the wood chips. I placed them on this look through and pretended I was making something delicious. Boy I had fun. I'm sure we'll be posting more playground fun pictures as the cooler air makes its way in....for good.

Hello...

Hello, my name is Grant. How may I help you?

The Things I Say...

This picture has nothing to do what I'm about to say but we like to post a picture whenever we can because well...there are a lot. Today I got Mommy chuckling pretty hard. I was sitting at my new table eating lunch. Mommy went to throw something away in the trashcan...to which I said:
"Good gurl Mommy throw away chash."
Now, she and Daddy encourage me when I throw trash into the trash can so I thought, why not return the encouragement? Boy, did Mommy laugh!

Check out THESE moves!

Well, I love to dance. Recently, Mommy has introduced me to the Jackson Five. Man are they awesome! They really know how to put the groove in your step. I just can't help but dance. So the other afternoon we had a dance party in my room. And yes, that's little Grant you see on the floor. He couldn't help but wiggle to the music too! We had a blast!

My Big Girl Room...Minus the Crib!!

So now that I'm officially two...I no longer sleep in a crib. That's right. Mommy disassembled my crib and assembled my bedrail (which proved to be quite a frustrating task for Mommy). So here is my room free of the crib. And my bedrail (thanks Grandmama) hides nicely away under my mattress when I'm not using it. Although lately Mommy hasn't been too good at the hiding away part. And...I've learned how to GET OUT of my bed. Mommy says I can't get out of my bed. We'll see how well I'll listen. I mean, there's so much freedom being two. A girl can't just sleep away the afternoons in her big girl bed. . .what I call my "girl bi be."

My Big Girl Pony Tail

Not only do I have a big girl room, with a big girl bed...but I also have a big girl pony tail with a big girl ribbon. Phew...that's a lot of growing up in just a short time! I think Mommy is a little sad to see me grow up.

Having a Tea Party...

Well, I got to make good use of a lot of my birthday presents last week. Here I am having a tea party with my new "goggy" from Aunt Ash on my new table from Mommy and Daddy with my new dishes from The Sandersons and Ellie. I think I pulled off my first party really well. Goggy seemed to think it was a big hit. I made sure she had plenty to drink and eat. She was so well behaved too. I told her she could sit on the table only if she had good manners. It's important to bring good manners to a tea party. And she most certainly did.

More Morning Fun...

Just a few more shots of me enjoying the cool morning air. I sure hope it stays like this!
