Don't Mess with the Little Guy

I won. You should have seen the other guy. Or at least that's what I wish I could say. The story behind the face isn't quite as exciting. You see, Mommy and I were walking back from the park. It was cold. Mommy encouraged me to put my hands in my pockets. "It'll keep your hands warm," she says. And while my hands were toasty warm in my pockets, my face broke my fall as I ran to catch up with Mommy and Grant. That's right, toasty hands, bloody face. Next time I'll choose cold hands.

Not Again!

So, I have been doing pretty good with my behavior as of late. But it just takes one little mistake to mar that record. And, mar it I did. I think it's obvious to the naked eye what I got into. Or should I say, what I allowed to get onto me. There is just something about a marker that calls my name. But, let's be honest here. I think it was Mommy who made the bigger mistake. Who leaves a marker out when two children are around? Come on, isn't that one of the first rules in the Mommy Handbook?

"Hulloh"

Got a phone? If you do, give me a ring sometime. I love talking. Now, I will warn you, it may be a boring conversation. My phone vocabulary consists of these words: "hulloh," "uh huh," and "bye, bye," with several kisses to the phone thrown in. I have come to the understanding that those are not seen by my fellow converser. Because of that, I have managed to master a loud, obvious kissing sound. Hey, when it's almost all you're working with you've got to do it up right. I want to be sure my friend understands my sentiments. So, give me your digits and I'll give you a ring.

A Beautiful Mess

Are they twins? That's what people ask. We hear it quite often. But, really? We just don't see it. But we do have common threads. . .our blue eyes being the most common. And then, yes, there's that messy factor. We're quite good at getting and staying messy. We like to think we keep the paper towel companies in business. It makes us feel a bit more confident in the midst of our mess. But hey, even in our mess, there is still beauty, or so Mommy says. And that's as philosophical as I'm going to get today because hey, I'm just three. And yes, I'm aware there is broccoli in my teeth.

Buddies

I didn't want to hold Grant when he was first born. It didn't interest me. Now, however, it does. So, I ask Mommy if Grant can sit in my lap. Mind you, we do weigh the same so it's a bit cumbersome, but oh so very fun. I'm finally embracing my role as big sister. Not only do I "hold" Grant now, but I also am very good at directing him. Mommy says it's what the oldests do best. I need to get some advice from Aunt Ash. I hear she's the bomb at exercising her eldest sibling muscles.

Got Milk?

I love "mulk." At the rate I'm going, osteoperosis is one word that I won't be hearing from my doctor when I'm 70. Mommy has to limit my "mulk" intake. You know, money. That's hard to accept. Give me my "mulk, my blankey, and Mommy's lap or hand, and I'm one content fella. And, if milk needs a new, more relatable picture for its milk ad, you know where to find me.

I Want to Hold Your Hand

It's me, Grant. I like to hold my Mommy's hand. In fact, I request to do so at each meal. If I'm having a particularly bad day and can't seem to get my emotions under control, I reach out my hand to Mommy as a request. I want to hold her hand. And as soon as my hand is covered securely in her's, all seems well with the world again. My emotions simmer. Mommy and Hannah now sing, "I Wanna Hold You Hand..." by the Beatles. I'm glad I inspire music and song.

New Years

I know New Year's was officially 18 days ago but we can still celebrate, right? We had friends over New Year's Eve. Our friends Ada, Ellie, and Nolan all came to play, along with their mommies and daddies too. And then there was Baby Fites (didn't get his/her picture) who came along but he was in Mrs. Krist's belly. And, I suppose as we're naming not yet born babies, there was also baby John, Ada's brother. He'll be out any day as well. It was a blast. Daddy got us sparklers and we LOVED them. Even Grant, yes, Grant, held one. However, he did slightly burn his finger. Don't worry grandparents, it has healed tremendously well. I tell Grant, that when I was that age, there would be no way they would have stuck one of those in my hands. So, being the second has its benefits. Happy New Year!

Oh, The Things I Say

While Mommy was painting my nails:

Me: Mommy, are you going to paint Grant's nails?

Mommy: No, he's a little boy. Girls paint their nails.

Me: When Grant turns into a little girl, then he can paint his nails too.

Me (turning to Grant): Grant, when you're done being a boy, Mommy will paint your nails.

Just the Four of Us

We love it when Ellie and Nolan come to play. They know fun. The other day we had a romping good time filled with hill races, leaf throwing (not pictured), rolls down the hill, and some wrestling, as well as those tender moments. Yes, I gave Nolan a kiss or "bick" as I so cleverly call it. And yes, I'm secure enough in my manhood to plant a kiss on my good friend, Nolan. We're cool like that.

"Fwends"

I'm beginning to really like my "brudder" Grant. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked him. But now, we're more like "fwends." I even told Mommy, "Grant's my best fwend." And he is, along with Mommy, Daddy, Stwyder, Ashey, and the other millions out there I've told the same thing to. Grant and I do lots of hugging lately. He even has started sitting in my lap (per my request). However, that's not going too well. He's a bit large. My favorite is when he comes up to me when I'm crying and gives me a hug and a kiss. He evens says "mmm, mmm," with his hugs (I'll have to mimic it for you in person). We play chase around the house. Sometimes I use Daddy's ties to pull Grant with (I got in trouble for that). I push him in the hamper. He tries to push me. We play "Ring Around the Rosie" and I've just begun to read him books. We wrestle alot and laugh at the funny noises we can make with our mouths. We are known to climb a table or two as well. Grant enjoys to put on my princess beads and to play with my "pretty things." Don't worry, he plays with balls, cars, trucks, and likes to hit too. He's still all boy. But he's my fwend. And I'm so thankful that he's also my "brudder."

What We've Been Up To

What have we been up to these cold, cold days? Watching movies (Hannah and I got 3 new movies for Christmas), daydreaming of warmer days to play outside, throwing things down the stairs (this always provides for good entertainment), and driving Mommy crazy with the cash register. We enjoy leaving coins and dollars all over the house (hey it was Mommy's decision to get this for us). Finally Mommy moved it upstairs into Hannah's room. And, as you can see, Mommy's been busy playing with her camera. Nothing too exciting. Can't wait for warmer weather!

Let the Games Begin!

Since Christmas, we've been quite busy with games from Cootie to Hungry Hippos to Elefun. And those are just to name a few!

And a Few More...

After some intense training, I joined Grant for some swingset fun. He enjoyed the teeter totter swing while I tried to pump my legs on the big girl swing. That's going to take some serious training for me. Grant also had a wrestling match with the swing. I'm not sure who won. Grant claims he did.

Can't Get Enough

Grant and I just can't get enough of this swingset. And Mommy can't get enough of her new camera. So, the two go hand in hand. I wanted Mommy to take as many pictures as she could of me. I need all my agile skills documented at an early age so that when they do a back story of me during the Olympics, they'll have plenty of pictures. I think I'm going to make a pretty good gymnast. I'm small, buy spry. I've got moves like a cat, quick and swift. I can climb anywhere with no fear. And then, either plummet down gracefully (like on the slide) or swing so daintily (like on the monkey bars) that it looks as if I'm floating on air. I'm already prepared to hang upside down too. However, I'm not getting the support I need to follow through with this (that'd be you Mommy and Daddy). But, it's a start.

Oh yeah, and then there's Grant. His most beloved activity on the swingset is the slide. But, he doesn't follow the slide rules. Nope. He climps UP the slide and then goes flying down on his tummy. But, that's better for him. You see, the first time he went down on his bottom and he shot off that slide like a rocket. He landed a couple of feet past the slide. So, the tummy way, it's the best way for him. Not too many pictures of Grant on the swingset. Sorry, I just don't think they'll be preparing a back story for you buddy. You're just not Olympic material.

Takin' It Easy on My Skates

So, like I said, I got me some skates for Christmas. And here I am takin' them for a spin for the first time outside. I did it in style. Just chillaxin' while sucking my thumb. I even had time for a little prayer. What can I say, I'm just cool like that. I did get a little wobbly here and there. That's when Mommy came in for some much needed assistance. Overall, I enjoyed my first ride outside. Now, if it would just warm up so I can get some more practice!

Do You Want to Rethink That?

Word's gotten around lately. I know it has. I've heard Mommy and Daddy discussing it with others. So, I've gotten in trouble lately. Can I make a plea for my case? Do you think a face like this could possibly warrant discipline? Could this happy little guy really need discipline? We all have anger issues. I'm not immune to it. I agree. But really, how serious could my problems be? The majority of the time I look like this. Happy. Warm. Endearing. So please people, don't get the wrong idea. I'm really a bundle of joy whose behavior has been blown out of proportion. Take it from me.
